Pop Art

We are learning about the elements and techniques of painting.
We are able to share our cultural identities through the art.
I chose the New Zealand culture as the subject for my painting.
I researched New Zealand icons on my iPod and found the one I wanted to do MINTIES!. Then I learnt about the pop art style created by Andy Warhol.
In this style he chose some famous icons and painted them using different colour mixes.
Andy warhol once said the rules in art we meant to be broken.
I learnt about the colour wheel and the different colors on it.
- complementary- couloirs that are opposite to each other on the colour wheel.
- analogous- 3 couloirs that are side by side on the colour wheel.
- monochromatic- one colour but in three different shades.
I drew a bold design of my icon using an art pencil. Then I turned it and then traced it onto cartridge paper four times once in each square.
I then chose the colours I wanted and patterns I wanted to paint onto my paper.
On the rubric I think I am multi-structural because I can use several techniques independently.

Here is a photo of my art work
I will keep you posted.
Bye
