Excellence Evidence Student Council

Today I had Student Council.
At student council we talked about a toy donation, getting more devices and football nets.

We were thinking that we would have a rotation for the year 7 and 8s to collect the toys.
The football nets are going to cost anywhere from 25-40 dollars.
We will need to do a further investigation on all the information.
Last week I stood in front of my class and got them to tell me some things to put on the PMI sheet about getting more devices.
Something that came up on the interesting was who would stop bring BYOD and rely on the classroom devices.
We were also thinking about giving the kakano students the year 7 and 8 iPods as we never really use them .
Mrs trotter has also told us about the school buying more chrome books for the senior students.

Excellence Evidence Guitar With Mr M

Today I had guitar with Mr M.
First we tuned our guitar and then we sat at the music stand with our music books.
We first played a really easy song and then he made us play a couple of harder songs.
We played He Honore and Tutira Mai Nga Ewi and then finally One Voice.
These were really fun as they are songs we don't normally play.
Todays practice went really well as we tried new songs.

Excellence Evidence Peer Mediation

Today at peer mediation I did not have very long as school finished at 2 instead of 3.

I did not have any problems, but a lot of little kids asked me to do their shoe laces up.
It was absolutely freezing outside today so it was a bad day for peer mediation.
It was good that we did not have any problems because that must mean they were all keeping out of trouble.

Excellence Evidence Student Council

Today we had Student Council,
At morning tea Ryan and I went and organised the agenda for Student Council.

At Student Council we talked about getting more devices, football nets, Ronald Mcdonald house and Salvation army donations.
We think the football nets are a much better idea then the hockey turf as it would not cost that much and it is going to get a better use.
We are going to get parents/students to bring in old toys etc to school and then we would donate them to the salvation army. For the Ronald Mcdonald house we might just have a mufti and a bring a gold coin donation.

It was a great meeting.

Excellence Evidence Guitar With Mr M

Yesterday I had guitar with Mr M, Monique and Jackie.
When we first got there we all got a tuner and tuned our guitars.\
Once we had finished that we sat down in front of a music stand and started to practice.
The first song we played was Happy Birthday because in the weekend it was Monique's Birthday.
We then played a few other songs that was really fun.
After that we played One Voice and started to learn Fire fly by Owl City.
Once we had finished our practice we packed up our guitars and said goodbye.

Excellence Evidence Peer Mediation

Today I had Peer Mediation, Unfortunately I had to remind the girls that they have it on today.

Today I did not have any problems.
Which is a good thing as when we have a lot it gets really hectic and annoying but
we may have thought at the time Peer Mediation was boring.

Normally if we don't have problems we get asked this question A LOT!!!!!! can you please tie my shoe laces up for me.
After walking around the junior area a few times they bell finally rang for the end of lunch.

Excellence Evidence Student Council

Today we had Student Council.

At Student Council we talked about
-Hockey Turf
-Getting more devices

We talked about that the hockey turf may be a bad idea as it will cost thousands of dollars.
We also talked about getting more devices as there is not enough. We are going back to our class and we are going to ask them do they think we need more.

It was a very productive meeting as we found out how some things are not going to work.

Excellence Evidence Guitar with Mr M

Today Monique, Jackie and I had guitar with Mr M.
When we first got there we tuned our guitars and and sat at the music stands with our books.
We got some new songs they are called Fire Flys and Happy Birthday.
Happy birthday is really easy because you only use one string and you can use what ever string you want.
Fire Flys is a bit harder because you have to learn a new cord called C and you also have to use a cord called G which I don't really like.
Overall I really enjoyed that lesson and I can't wait to play those two songs.

Excellence Evidence Can Do Technology

Today we had technology.
On the bus I sat next to Kyla and Xnathe I made sure that I was only talking to them.

When we got to tech I quietly got off the bus and went outside the science room.
At morning tea time Taylor and I went and played the PALS game that the Lincoln kids were running.
I made sure that I was listening to them and we did skipping, ladder games. I found that really fun as I was not really keen at first.

Excellence Evidence Role Model for the Kakano students.

Today I was being a role model for the Kakano students by getting my Merit Badge and Bronze certificate.
This year I have been working really hard to get my Leadership badges and care certificates because it is a great challenge and achieving them makes me really proud of myself and my school.

To get your Merit badge you have to participate in two can dos (I did Peer Mediation and Student council). Then you have to blog five times about those two things and also blog five times about being a role model, all the kauri team events, helping out around the school, getting involved and technology.
You will also have to complete four homework challenges one must be a task that is highlighted.
One hard thing was is that you could not blog more than two times a week.

This is the Merit Badge.
And my Bronze certificate.

Excellence Evidence Can Do Helping out around the school

On Thursday the year 7 and 8's had a re-launch.
I was lucky enough to get asked to help hand out the food and be there to answer questions and show the parents around the new spaces.
The first thing we did was listen to a yr 8 bless the food in maori and then we walked around handing out the food.
Lot's of people were nervous to try some things as they looked weird but then we told them what was in it and they had a go they then said it was delicious and went back for more. After we had eaten the food we went into the boys class and 3 yr 7s and 1 yr 8 spoke about their time in the classes and how it was different from other years.
After all of that was done we showed the parents around all the spaces.
I think it was good to see a lot of parents there and it was a great night.

Excellence Evidence Can Do Helping out around the school

On Thursday some year 7 and 8 student including myself were working in the kitchen all day making food for the year 7 and 8 re-launch.

We made some really yummy food we made Carrot and Apple cupcakes, Rosemary crackers, Beetroot and Mint dip, Kale and Parmesan dip, Hummus and Crepes with a vege filling.
I really enjoyed making the food the yummiest thing was the Carrot and Apple cupcakes.
I think that all the parents really enjoyed the food because we got some amazing comments.

Excellence Evidence Peer Mediation

Today I had Peer mediation,
Unfortunately none of the other people who were on peer mediation turned up so I asked Taylor if she wanted to help and she kindly said yes. It made me think how important it is to make sure Peer mediators turn up, because doing it on your own would be hard.
We only got one problem and that was a kid was screaming in peoples ears. When we asked the boy come over her then fell in a hole and had pretended to hurt himself to get out of it because he knew he was in the wrong. So we decided to tell the boy that came and told us that if he was doing it again to tell a Peer mediator or teacher.

Excellence Evidence Student Council

On Thursday I had Student Council because Mrs Trotter was away Mrs Hall came.
The boys class brought a few extra people to talk about getting a hockey turf.
They presented what the wanted and we talked about how that it might not be a great idea because it would cost a lot of money.
We then also talked about how some kids need to talk to their buddy classes more because we are not really getting the correct message across.

Excellence Evidence Guitar With Mr M

Today Monique and I had guitar with Mr M.

When we first got there we got a tuner and tuned our guitars.

Mr M gave us two new songs to learn I remember one of them was Fireflys.
We also got told that on Wednesday Monique and I are going to be Preforming in front of our class.
He also showed us some cool things on the piano.
We then finally packed up and left.

Excellence Evidence Can do Technology

Today we had tech,
It was our last day in cooking next my group will be moving on to Science.

On the way there I sat next to Monique, I made sure I was only talking to her and not loud.

When we got to tech I walked over to the food tech room.
We went in and got told what we are making today we were making Spaghetti Bolognese and Chocolate Afgans I was more excited for the afgans then the spaghetti bolognese.
The Spaghetti Bolognese was very yummy and so was the biscuits.

On they way back I also sat next to Monique and made sure I only talked to her.

Excellence Evidence Peer Mediation

On Monday I had Peer Mediation,
I had to remind the other two girls that they had Peer Mediation.

We only had one problem which is a great thing because sometimes we have a lot of problems.
The problem was that a little kid was pushed off the chair by his friend.
We first read out the rules to them they agreed and both wanted to sort it out.
We heard both sides of the story.
Then we prompted them on some ideas on how they could sort it out.
They came decided to say sorry and stay away from each other.

They then walked away and carried on with their lunch time.
