Merit Evidence Must Do helping out around the school

Today I was helping out around the school by creating a game of Duck Duck Goose for the little new entrance kids.

The first thing we did was gather some kids we got about five.
We thought that was all we were going to get but we got some more.
I think that they really enjoyed playing this fun game and they all asked to do it again and again.

Merit Evidence Student Council

Last Thursday we held a student council meeting.

At that meeting I got given a sheet that explained what we need to include in the minutes and more information on what I the secretary has to do.

We also agreed on inviting the kids that come up with the ideas to come to the meeting rather than the student council reps trying to explain it. As we don't have all the information and don't know what they are actually trying to say.

I think that meeting went very well we discussed a lot.

Merit Evidence Peer Mediation

Today at Peer Mediation we did not have any problems.

Which was a great thing because then we did not have to do much.
As a result of that we decided to walk around and talk to younger kids.

Because we did not have any problems it must mean that everyone was having a good day.

Merit Evidence Role modeling for Kakano Team

Today i was being a role model for the kakano team by presenting in the team assembly on behalf of the student council.
 We talked about that on Thursday we would be having a mufti day for Nepal as the have had some very large earthquakes. They all seemed to be excited. I think that it is good that we did what we di d what we did because it shows that the ideas from us kids. It is also great because then all the parents who came to assembly know about it as sometimes it is hard to get the kids to tell their parents.

Merit Evidence At technology on the bus

Today we went to tech it was a bit annoying because the bus was way to small.
I sat with meadow on the bus and we talked about what high school we are going to go too.
It was really loud on the bus which is a big problem because the bus driver needs to concentrate.
Once we got to tech i went with my friends and walked to the food tech room.
We made Pizza Scrolls and Cinnamon Pinwheels.

Merit Evidence Peer Mediation

Today I remembered to turn up to peer mediation to help the younger students.

I made sure i was there on time and had the right equipment to do the job.

Today i helped some younger students out with a problem, the problem was is that some people were trying to throw bark at the other students.
We asked them what they thought the could do to solve the problem they said keep away from the other students I thought that was a smart idea and that is what they did.

Merit Evidence Kauri Cross Country

Today we had the Kauri Cross Country.
My friends and I all had a goal my goal was top 15.
I was very very nervous for my race it was 3km which was a long run.
Before my race all the yr 7 and 8's played a game run by the house captains.

On your marks, Get set, Go.
I see that as soon as we got to go that some people sprinted which was a bit silly because you have to pace yourself if you want to be able to finish the race without struggling to much.
I finally pass the finish line YAY 4th I completed my goal to the max.

Merit Evidence Peer Mediation

On Monday I had peer mediation.

I was very surprised  that i did not have any major problems to sort.
This got me thinking that maybe today was a good day for the younger kids.

The two other girls doing peer mediation both turned up on time which was a great thing.

Hopefully next week we will not have many problems.

Merit Evidence Student Council

Yesterday we had our third Student Council meeting.

Ryan the Chair Person was away so Meadow and I ran the meeting.

Unfortunately there was no teacher at our Student Council meeting again, but I think we ran it quite well.

The first thing we did was the roll.

All those students who could attend, attended the meeting.

We then talked about more fundraising ideas eg Mufti day for the radio station gold coin donation.

The reason why we talked about fundraising is because we have not received any other information to talk about.

What I liked about this meeting was is that everyone contributed their ideas.

Hopefully next week we will have a teacher there so then we can have a bit of guidance on what we should talk about.

Merit Evidence Student Council

Today we had student council.
Not everyone turned up today which was a bit annoying because if you are on student council you should be responsible.

Today we talked about the mufti day we have organised for tomorrow it is raising money for vanuatu.
Everybody has the choice to wear mufti if you choose to you must bring a gold coin to help out with the bad weather that has happened in vanuatu.
Then the three seniors that actually turned up then organised who will pick up the money.

Merit Evidence At Tech On The Bus

At tech on the bus,
I was showing respect by talking only to the people next to me.
I also was showing respect by not mucking around when we were told to get on and off the bus eg. sitting three to the seat.
I think that i was showing great respect.

Merit Evidence Peer Mediation

Yesterday (20th of April) I had Peer Mediation.

I made sure I turned up and did my job well.

I tried to help some younger students about a disagreement they had on a game called I am the greatest I made sure that if they still had the problem tomorrow  that they could come to the peer mediators they next day to try and find a better solution.

We encouraged they girls to explain to each other not to choose their friends all the time and to also say sorry for the misunderstanding.

What is peer Mediation?

Peer Mediation is a group of yr 7 and 8's who walk around the school and help solve problems out in the playground. The have all been trained.

Today I remembered my duty of Peer Mediation.

I helped some younger students to solve a problem about hitting each other they all co-operated and helped solved the problem. I asked them one by one what they think happened. They all told the truth and talked with each other to come up with some sort of solution.

I felt really happy solving their problem because now they can all play nicely and no one will be hurt.

Merit Evidence Student Council

Today we had a student council meeting.

Last Friday I got told by Mrs Trotter that I was going to become the secretary of student council.

I was absolutely thrilled that I got it as I got it last year and I loved having that responsibility.

Today was a hard meeting because Ryan (the chairperson) and I decided to run it because a teacher did not turn up. Because it was only our second meeting there were a lot of new students to student council who don't know how the meetings run.

The first thing we did was make a roll because we have not made one yet as it is only our second meeting. We then had a long discussion about fundraising ideas for 2015.

We went around the circle suggesting ideas the ones we loved I wrote down on a piece of paper.

One of the struggles me and Ryan had today was that the kids were not listening and I found that we would have to keep clapping to get there attention.

Merit Evidenece Student Council

Today was the first day of student council, I was so excited to be in student council again as I did last year and was secretary and loved it.

First of all if you were wondering what student council is. It is basically 2 people from each class get chosen and they attend a meeting usually every fortnight. They are responsible for keeping their class up to date with what is happening and upcoming events. They will also have to report to their buddy class.  

What things does student council talk about?

We talk about fundraising ideas for different types of places eg. SPCA. 

We take in ideas from a proposal sheet all students fill in if they want to contribute their ideas to the student council. We sometimes get asked about our thoughts towards a certain idea around the school. 

My highlight from last year was getting to start the radio station up which gave me a great opportunity to speak on the radio with other students.
